Contract Summary
The renovation and restoration of historic and listed properties is a significant challenge within an environment of increased costs, progressively robust environmental targets and need to repurpose building stock in a post pandemic world. This commission comprises tax policy support to Historic England to identify and develop tax policy options to better support the renovation and restoration of historic buildings, including the introduction of VAT reliefs for such activity. Specifically, this will include: 1. Preparation and facilitation of one two hour workshop to examine the aims and objectives of a policy measure, identify and prioritise potential measures, and discuss the evidence and arguments that might be used to support an approach to Government on the issue. 2. Circulation of a follow up email summarising the key points discussed and listing the actions and next steps 3. Preparation of a discussion note incorporating the major themes, lessons learnt, key takeaways, evidence mapping; to be shared with HE.
