The Missions also open doors that would be closed to a SME alone. The attraction of a competitive group backed by government and private sponsors helps Missions to engage critical partners in the overseas market. Future Cities Missions are funded by Innovate UK in partnership with UKTI. They are organised by an external Delivery Partner who project manage the considerable process and logistics as well as securing other sponsors and developing the programme. Oversight is from Innovate UK who also underwrite the Missions costs. Mission location and company selection are set in collaboration with Innovate UK and UKTI.
