We are seeking a social science team who are experienced and knowledgable about culture and arts-based research and practice to: (a) develop at least 6 informative case studies of how arts-based research and practice have been supported and used by other organisations and partnerships to shape the research process and/or evidence generated, particularly in the field of conservation and science (Stage 1); (b) classify different arts-based approaches into categories and map them against relevant programmatic work undertaken within Natural England; then use this classification to produce stimuli for the focus groups (Stage 2); (c) conduct 4 focus groups (each of 2 hours with 6-8 participants per focus group) with Chief Scientist's Directorate staff to explore their perspectives on the potential of integrating arts-based approaches into Natural England's evidence base and approach. Expected outputs include written case studies and an internal report. The contract will start at the beginning of September 2023 and will be completed by the end of March 2024.
