Drones are starting to be used extensively across the network, so Highways England needs to have a joined-up approach to safely manage and operate all drone activities within the business. We have published our first drone policy and established a cross directorate drone governance/working group to manage the growing drone usage. Our drone policy is just the starting point; we now need to further develop our requirements to safely facilitate our use of drones to support design, construction, operation and maintenance (asset management/ traffic management/incident management and media operations) activities across our network.",
