"description": "The Council wishes to appoint a Contractor to carry out the engineering, heritage and conservation works required to the Carmears and Fower Consols leats, covering a combined distance of approximately 2.7 miles. The anticipated scope of works will include: - Repairs to the banks. - Works to provide fish screens at the abstraction points. - Various isolated repairs and remedial to the leat system. The Council owns most of the Valley which is one of its most popular countryside sites and the Treffry Viaduct, a Scheduled Monument and iconic structure, is owned by Cornwall Heritage Trust. The Carmears and Fower Consols leats are keys element of the international importance of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. It is proposed that the project will be funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Cornwall Heritage Trust, and Cornwall Council prudential borrowing. The estimated cost of the works in this scheme is PS800,000. The other works in the scheme include the repairs to the Treffry Viaduct/Aqueduct which sits in the middle of the leat system and the installation of Hyrdroelectric system. The leat repairs will be tendered concurrently with the viaduct repairs; Contractors may tender for both if desired. An Open Day will be held on 18 September 2017 in Luxulyan which will incorporate an opportunity for an open dialogue about the project and an opportunity for Contractors to register their interest. The session will include: - Introductory presentation. - Site tour. - General bidder Q&A. As part of your response to this PIN please confirm you are able to attend this day (noting attendance will initially be limited to two people per bidder) by 11 September 2017, as well as providing key contact telephone & email addresses in order for information on the open day to be issued. A more detailed briefing document will be made available to interested parties prior to the Q&A Session.",
