The proposals also include the provision of four retaining walls. The carriageway is to be 7.3m wide with 3.5m wide of footway / cycleway on each side. The route of the new link road crosses the site of a former brick works, where the clay extraction pit has been filled with cellophane waste. The approach embankment to the new bridge over the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal will need to be constructed over this. Works associated with the project will also include the provision of drainage, alterations to Statutory Undertakers' apparatus and the provision of new landscaping",
