        "description": "The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) recruits between 880-1000 students, to a suite of courses within each academic year. As these courses are all of a professional nature, students gain not only an academic qualification but also a professional qualification and eligibility to register with applicable regulatory bodies. These include the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC for allied health professionals) and professional bodies such as the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and College of Occupational Therapists (COT). As part of their course, there is a requirement for students to complete professional practice placements. This involves working in health, social care and private sector settings as well as voluntary and independent settings and in private homes. All applicants are therefore required to have an 'Occupational Health Assessment' to declare their fitness to join the University course and receive various vaccinations in advance of commencing their placements and in some cases during their placement.",
