It is a systematic vascular risk assessment and management programme to help prevent various cardiovascular diseases (CVD) including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, dementia and kidney disease. The check is made up of three key components: risk assessment, risk awareness and risk management. The programme helps improve population health outcomes and quality of life by reducing the risk of vascular disease in adults attending for an NHS Health Check.
