This pattern is particularly evident among our poorest residents, those with physical/mental health problems and residents from ethnically minoritised groups. The council already commissions Xyla Health & Wellbeing to provide a structured 12-week Tier-2 Weight Management service for Newham residents aged 18 years and above. However, this kind of programme is not suitable for everyone and does not cater for residents aged under 18. The Council is therefore looking to work with partner organisations from Newham or neighbouring boroughs to develop and test ways to help more residents lose weight.
