In November 2019 the Government announced that Dewsbury was one of 101 towns to be afforded the opportunity to secure a Town Deal. The Towns Fund forms part of the Government's approach to 'levelling up' towns in the North and Midlands and achieve a more balanced approach to economic growth. The Towns Fund will provide core public investment of up to PS25m in Town Deals, to deliver long-term economic growth and productivity. This contract is anticipated to commence on 20th April 2020 and the plan must be complete by 17th July 2020.",
