The primary remit for the service is the prevention of homelessness. The service ranges from one-off information, advice, guidance, and signposting, to short term interventions up to six weeks and extended support up to six months. Challenges such as the increasing cost of privately rented housing, welfare reforms, and increasing homelessness are creating an environment where housing related support services are crucial.
