These modulators must be able to deliver at least 70 MW of RF peak power and have the capability of providing RF pulse widths of up to 3 ms and be capable of operating at a repetition rate of up to 400 Hz. However, it should be noted that these conditions may not all be required at the same time. The tenderer must clearly state what is included within the bid and must clearly state any items that STFC are required to supply, which includes an estimate of STFC electrical/mechanical/technical support staff effort required by the supplier during the installation. Currently the funding exists to purchase one klystron modulator. However, it is anticipated that funding will be available in subsequent years to purchase a further 2 similar klystron modulators. Thus as part of the tender documentation cost options should be provided for a single modulator and also for the supply of 3 modulators. Additional information: This procurement will be managed electronically via the Crown Commercial Service's e-Sourcing Suite.
