"description": "Collection and disposal of commercial waste. Additional information: COMMERCIAL WASTE SOLUTIONS - WASTE DISPOSAL CONTRACT Maidstone Borough Council operates a commercial waste service to local small to medium sized enterprises within the Borough. The service currently collects waste in sacks, 240 litre and 1100 litre bins from approximately 360 customers. This generates in the region of 800 tonnes of general mixed waste (EWC 20-03-01) requiring disposal. There is a requirement to directly deliver the waste on a daily basis using a 26 tonne collection vehicle, as the Council does not have a facility to bulk the waste at the Council's Depot. Therefore the disposal facility needs to be within 10 miles or 20 minutes travel time (whichever is smaller) of the Council's Park Wood Depot to limit downtime of the service. The Council is committed to following the principles of the waste hierarchy and therefore seeks disposal to be through energy recovery as opposed to landfill.",
