The service shall provide the customer with both a standard photograph service (non - digital) and a digital photograph service. The digital photographic element of the requirements must support HMPO and Government Digital Services (GDS) objectives and be capable of adapting to on-going research with leading suppliers aligned to Open Identity Exchange (OIX). The Digital Photographic Solution: shall provide appropriate digital transmission connectivity to the customer to a digital device such as a mobile phone, USB device or to a nominated customer email account The customer will then download their digital photo to their device or retrieve via an email from their phone to then upload to their on-line passport application. The main requirement is that the customer has access to where the image is stored. NB: The photograph only becomes the responsibility of HMPO when the customer uploads the digital photograph onto their application form. The photographic image and other biometrics are an important component in HMPO's interactive strategy for customer authentication and verification. The proliferation of new photographic and biometric-based authentication services will play an increasingly pivotal part of solutions that can ensure personal data is secured and privacy protected throughout the entire supply chain.
