It is anticipated that the facility will consist of two shielded cells; a de-lidding cell for loading and unloading shielded flasks, and an active cell for 'invasive works'. Each cell will be served with through-wall-manipulators and overhead cranes. The shielding thickness requirement will be approximately 350mm of steel, or equivalent, with a total steel mass of approximately 600 tonnes.
