We are exploring options for the AEM programme that will create a real-world testing environment for potential reforms to upstream energy price signals (network & policy costs), which will affect how consumers are charged for energy. This environment could test what innovative services and tariffs energy suppliers and other providers can offer and how these incentivise consumer energy choices that support cost-effective decarbonisation. The Alternative Energy Markets: Trial Design will involve the design of a potential trial to test alternative price signals in a real-world environment, and the development of a research and evaluation workstream to provide the necessary evidence to inform future decisions on potential charging reform.",
