The initial procurement is for 6 immersive and 24 desktop models with an option for additional units of various types. The full cab simulators replicate the immersive cab environment and are provided with associated operating terminal(s) with additional controls via remote control. These simulators will provide for ongoing assessment of qualified drivers with high resolution displays. The desktop simulators provide a realistic representation of driving a train without all the controls of the full cab unit. Mobile simulators will be used in the classrooms to build experiential learning elements into the training provided. The procurement includes realistic route design and modelling of real or future routes and the ability to add, alter, remove route features. The simulators include a method of recording and reviewing training and assessment, including key learning points, communication examples, and playback/indication of controls for deeper understanding of the session observed. The simulators have the ability to add realistic faults and a method to investigate and rectify said faults. The unit base is modelled around a CAF CIVITY Class 195/331/BDMU and the software will reflect real-world combinations of units, i.e., 2 or 3 car units, coupled up to combination that includes max 4 units. Planned maintenance is included in the normal lifespan of the units.
