This leads to a significant number of risks such as lack of provider due diligence, increased variation in pricing with increasing costs and inconsistency of services being delivered to our patient populations. West Essex CCG has been a partner with Essex County Council and the other Essex CCGs for a number of years to commission the Integrated Residential and Nursing Framework. This would enable a legally compliant route to market for these services. However, this has not been successful in West Essex with none of the homes within our area bidding to be approved onto the Framework. The Framework reopens every year and we are actively working with our local homes to encourage them to sign up to this Framework. Issuing contracts to these suppliers on a short term basis will reduce the risks outlined above, and increase the quality of care provided to our patients through: - having in place a specific nursing home specification which is aligned to the 11 domains of the Decision Support Tool -
