Using these powers Dorset Council monitor works on the highway to provide value by ensuring that: * the highway remains safe whilst works are executed and following reinstatement, * the highway asset is returned to specification * the works promoter operates in accordance with the conditions of their permit * the highway network disruption is kept to a minimum. Performance must be monitored to ensure compliance is maintained and if performance is not adequate, the Council must work with the undertaker to ensure that the appropriate steps are taken to ensure rectification and future compliance.
