The review of the service has found it to be effective and to benchmark well with similar provision. The proposed approach therefore is to continue with this service with a further review planned. Further, the rationale for the proposed direct award of contract is to maintain the continuity established with the existing service provider, who meets all defined quality standards. This is within the context of the service being of critical importance to support vulnerable people home from busy A&E departments. This and the quality of service provided is felt to outweigh any benefit from a process of procurement."
