The replacement footbridge structure has been designed to RIBA Stage 4 and takes the form of a 16m span steel warren truss supported on bored piled reinforced concrete abutments. The embankments are partially constructed in reinforced earth and new accesses to the Parkland Walkway are to be provided by reinforced concrete ramps and stairs. Planning approval has been granted for the scheme with conditions. The scheme contractor will be required to discharge a number of the planning Conditions prior to commencement and during the Works.
