This is centrally controlled by the 24/7 Operations Planning Centre at Trinity House's offices in Harwich, Essex. Each monitored site/station utilises out-station telemetry units, which allow the real-time communication of aid's and operating parameters. The system allows the remote operation of fixed navigational aids, thereby significantly reducing the level of human intervention required for each site (and the associated costs of operation) and is used to establish operational trends, including power availability (by analysing battery charge levels) and generation (by checking solar panel performance). This CMCS also supports Trinity House's lone-worker monitoring obligations, which is essential when using contracted attendants for call-outs and general housekeeping duties.
