At a late stage in this process however it became apparent that the terms of the existing contract were not sufficient to allow for the full scope of the planned modification. As such, to secure mobilisation of this additional provision within the timescales required, a short term contract has been awarded via a direct award. A procurement in line with PSR will be undertaken in this time, with a 6 month extension option included to ensure sufficient time for this should it be required."
