To deliver SCO2T Connect supplier understanding of the differences in Scottish legislation in consenting, lands and planning compared to England and Wales will be key for delivery. SCO2T Connect plans to repurpose and build pipelines to transport C02 across Scotland. The pipeline will comprise around 280km of repurposed methane pipeline and 61km of new build. Project Union will deliver a combination of repurposed existing assets and new infrastructure to create hydrogen pipeline of up to 2,500km. The first phase of Project Union is planned in the East Coast of England. The pipeline is estimated to comprise around 350km of repurposed methane pipeline and 250km of new build (subject to further options appraisal of routing). Following East Coast the subsequent phases are planned in North West England, Scotland and Grangemouth-Teesside. NGT are conducting early market engagement for land and consenting services for both Project Union and SCO2T Connect.
