Due to decay in the cap frame and issues with deterioration, the sails were removed in 2022. The cap has difficulty turning due to various alignment issues, including the fantail pinion at the curb popping out of gear; it has had such problems for some time. The freehold is held by Nottingham City Council and the site is operated (including public facing) by Green's Mill Trust on behalf of Nottingham City Council.
