Depending on the outcome of the review it will also impact infrastructure requirements, such as the need for electric charge points if the Council opts for alternatives to diesel or petrol. There are also numerous operational considerations such as how/where/when the vehicles will be refueled if alternative fuel sources are to be utilised. As a result of this it is not currently practical to replace the existing fleet of 91 housing vans without having an appropriate plan, infrastructure and support services in place. A commitment to replace the vans at this stage, just for 12 months, would result in additional costs to the Council and potentially work against the Councils net Zero targets in the long term.
