In order to review and assess air quality as part of the duties under London Local Air Quality Management, air quality monitoring stations are operated throughout both boroughs. There is a requirement for the air quality monitoring data to be used in the Review and Assessment process and the rates of data capture need to be the highest possible. Consequently, the equipment needs to be regularly serviced and maintained. There also needs to be swift responses to faults which are reported in order to minimise the loss of air quality monitoring data. Early diagnosis and notification of potential faults is encouraged so that corrective intervention can be programmed. The contract will need to represent value for money for the Council while offering a high quality service to the client. The operation of an air quality monitoring network is a measure that is included in both of the boroughs' Air Quality Action Plans.
