This approach is often referred to as \"target hardening.\" The Target Hardening Property Scheme for Worcestershire is being commissioned in partnership with the six District Councils (Bromsgrove, Malvern Hills, Redditch, Worcester City, Wychavon and Wyre Forest). The ambition is to establish a single, high-quality, responsive countywide service. This service will deliver proportionate target hardening interventions within existing accommodation, enabling survivors of domestic abuse to remain safely in their homes wherever possible. Sanctuary Schemes are recognised within the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, which places a strong emphasis on supporting survivors of domestic abuse and their children within safe accommodation. This includes ensuring provision meets the needs of diverse communities, including minority groups and individuals with care and support needs, to improve outcomes and reduce inequalities.
