This is in addition to normal capacity secured to meet the needs of citizens who require long term care that is commissioned by health and social care. The scheme will essentially provide ongoing NHS care for a defined period of up to 6 weeks to allow patients to be discharged from hospital care pending finalisation of their ongoing care needs. The Health Board intends to commission up to 100 beds through a combination of spot purchasing arrangements and block contracts across Swansea Bay Health Board although the precise number of beds available in each locality will depend on the response received from providers and the needs of individual patients.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
