"title": "Cardiff University - Purchase of Epitaxial Wafers of Indium Gallium Arsenide Quantum Dots",
"description": "Cardiff University, School of Biosciences intends to purchase 6 epitaxial wafers of In(Ga)As (Indium Gallium Arsenide) quantum dots emitting at 1300nm embedded in a AlGaAs (Aluminium Gallium Arsenide)/GaAs (Gallium Arsenide) for the research activity of the QOBI team.Compound semiconductors, such as GaAs, In(Ga)As and AlGaAs, combine unique electronic and optical properties which make them ideal candidate for optoelectronic devices. For example, In(Ga)As QD are routinely used as active material in lasers and photodetectors. The procurement of the wafers will allow the QOBI team to progress in their research activity in the development of a lab-on-chip optical biosensor based on photonic devices fabricated from the supplied wafers. The devices will be fabricated at the cleanroom of the Institute of Compound Semiconductors.Demonstrating the operation of the biosensor device for the sensing of biological molecules, will support applications for future grants and external collaboration.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=124093.
