Lot 2 - The AE (HV/LV should be suitably experienced for this discipline: a. must be a Chartered Engineer with practical and relevant technical engineering experience of the types of system and equipment relative to their appointment; b. have satisfactorily completed an approved AP (HV) training course in the last three years or within six months of a first-time nomination; c. have satisfactorily completed an approved AE (HV) training course in the last three years or within six months of a first-time nomination; d. be familiar with the different types of equipment, installation and system in use within the areas for which appointment is sought; e. have a basic knowledge of the systems and installations in use in the areas for which they will become responsible, and become familiar with the more complex systems; f. be independent from the NHS Board to which the AE is contracted - this is important to exercise the duties of the post; g. be able to demonstrate their competency and suitability for the role by demonstrating a good understanding of the management tasks involved and knowledge of Scottish Health Technical Memorandum 06-03: 'Electrical safety guidance for high voltage systems' prior to appointment; h. have adequate knowledge of, and within the last three years have successfully completed a training course on, emergency first-aid. Lot 3 - The AE (MGPS) should be registered on the IHEEM Register or with the HFS National Advisory Group for this discipline and be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in an appropriate engineering discipline with at least 10 years experience in healthcare. The AE (MGPS) will: a. have attended an accredited AE (MGPS) training course specific to the needs of the role; b. have attended an accredited Authorised Person (AP) (MGPS) course within the three years before applying for appointment as AE (MGPS); c. provide documentary evidence of formal qualifications, technical, design and contractual experience including records of continuing professional development (CPD) attendance; d. by means of a formal interview, satisfy the appointing body of their ability to perform the role safely, conscientiously and effectively. Lot 4 - The AE (Ventilation) should be suitably qualified for this discipline, having Chartered Engineer (CEng) status and with at least ten years experience in healthcare. Lot 5 - The AE (Water) should preferably be a qualified Microbiologist for this discipline, with a degree in life science, preferably Microbiology and at least ten years relevant experience in healthcare. The organisation providing the service shall be a member of the Legionella Control Association and comply with its code of conduct. If the NHS Board requests the contracted organisation to provide assistance with technical engineering issues, the contracted organisation must employ a suitably qualified Chartered Engineer to provide the service required. This Chartered Engineer must have ten years relevant experience in healthcare. Lot 6 - The AE (Pressure Systems) should be suitably qualified for this discipline, having Chartered Engineer (C Eng) status and be on the IHEEM Register or with the HFS National Group for this discipline.
