has received funding from Museums Galleries Scotland and a small bequest to refurbish the War Memorial Room in Hawick Museum. Designer Russell Eggleton from Abound Design & Interpretation, has produced a set of drawings and technical specifications (attached Appendix 1) which detail the requirements that will produce the infrastructure for the various interpretative methods that have been planned for the room. 4.1 Display Case Production: The War Room will contain museum standard display cases and shop-fit standard cases to display artefacts from the Hawick Museum collection (and possibly loans from elsewhere at a later date). We will display a decommissioned Lee Enfield rifle and some valuable medals so security of certain cases will be important. The cases that require enhanced security standards are identified as 5, 8 and 9 on the 20171004 Case schedule. The minimum requirement will be 11.5mm laminated glass with abloy locks. For Case 5 (Lee Enfield rifle case) the quote should also include an allowance for audible alarm and LED down lighting. For the remaining cases we want to attain museum quality display standards of display, security and environment within the budget allocated. Please include space for silica gel compartment in the lift off and free standing cases. 4.2 Set build: There are additional elements of build required to 'set the room'. A central Spine Wall (Spine Wall V2) will support the majority of the display cases and provides the backdrop for text and image panels, one audio devise and one audio-visual device.
