The information collected will build on the annual spring and autumn count data in the Uists; A total of 5030 individual Greylag geese were counted during September 2017, and 4655 were counted during February 2018. This tender will serve to provide SNH with: An assessment of the breeding success of Greylag geese in the Uists during Autumn 2018. A record of the brood sizes within the population.",

"description": "Undertake an ageing and productivity survey across North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist to assess the breeding success of resident Greylag geese: Surveys will be undertaken of at least 25% of the overall goose population, from a sample of birds encountered in surveys carried out from roads across the Uists. Total number of adults and immature birds will be recorded. Brood sizes will also be recorded by identifying family groups. Young birds tend to remain with their parents, and where two (or occasionally one) adult bird are accompanied by young then it can be assumed they are a family group. Surveys will be conducted during November 2018, and should be completed in one day, or no more than two consecutive days. A report will be submitted summarising the survey findings and presenting the flock locations (grid references) and counts in electronic format.",

"description": "As well as noting your interest on the Public Contracts Scotland portal, to be considered you must also email relevant supporting information - ie. CVs of key people and examples of previous similar work, and a cover letter to Patrick.hughes@nature.scot to arrive by 9am on 24th October 2018. This information will then be used to determine which contractors to formally invite to quote. The Invitation to Quote will be issued directly via email rather than through the portal. This Prior Information Notice is being published so as a wider potential field of candidates may be reached, but it does not fall within the 'regulated procurement' category (i.e. the value is under GBP 50,000) Please note that because Section 11.3 of this PIN is a mandatory field, a date has been entered but a Contract Notice will NOT be published http://www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=536461.
