The works can be split into the following parts: 1. An additional gas fired boiler is to be provided and installed within the existing energy centre. This will increase the heat producing capacity to meet the extended DH system. In addition, an existing stand-by boiler for district heating system is to be relocated from its remote position to the Energy Centre. 2. Various remedial works are required within the existing Energy Centre to improve the existing operation and maintenance of the installed CHP, boilers and ancillary equipment: this includes the upgrade of the existing distribution, modifications to pipework and the installation of improved isolations. 3. Currently the existing DH network, comprising 6 blocks, is fed directly from the heating distribution. It is intended that modifications are made to install a heat exchanger arrangement to split these to a primary circuit and secondary circuits at each block. 4. An additional three blocks require to be added to the DH network, in a similar manner to the above. The existing network will require to be extended into each of these blocks and a full secondary distribution network installed within. There are c. 80 properties to each block with various types of heating systems. These are to be replaced with new standard heating systems and heat interface units. 6. A private wire HV electrical distribution will require to be installed within the local area to provide supplies from the Energy Centre CHP to each of the end users. This distribution will be in the region of 3km. The private wire arrangements are to be installed to the landlord services at all of the 9 residential blocks previously mentioned as well as to 3 schools and one office building.
