The BiGGAR Report provides evidence of a strong economic case for SRUC, collaboratively, to be a university for the rural economy, though it should be noted that SRUC would not currently fit the current \"normal\" requirements in Scotland to be a University in terms of student numbers. SRUC is already an independent and self-determining Higher Education Institution and has over a century of history delivering high quality land-based education provision. We have worked closely with the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, who validate our taught degrees and Masters programmes, and we work with a number of awarding bodies such as SQA and City and Guilds. The strategies, policies and procedures which underpin the delivery of our taught portfolio are SRUC's. SRUC has begun the internal dialogue to move towards an application for DAP from the Privy Council on the advice of Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and Scottish Government.
