The firmware build configuration should define whether the board is operating in a pump controller mode or in a valve controller mode. In both modes the firmware is responsible for precise stepper motor movements with feedback from the photointerrupter sensor, however exact functions and exposed API is different between the two modes. Two suppliers were contacted initially to scope out potential costs and to seek feedback to refine to technical specification: Koncepto and Peacock Technologies Limited.
