"description": "EBP would like to engage an external pathology service provider to be part of the team on an ongoing but flexible basis. Our specific needs are outlined below: 1. Provision of research pathology support through collaboration with our research colleagues based at Roslin Institute, as well as throughout the University and in external institutes. This would comprise: a. Reading, interpretation and reporting of histopathology and immunohistochemically labelled slides generated from various research projects. b. Provision of practical advice on research project development, specifically those using animal models (including farm animal models) of human disorders. 2. Assistance with immunohistochemistry development (antibody validation and quality control). Some of this could be undertaken remotely as we have slide scanning capability. 3. Provision of regular or periodic surgical pathology diagnostic support to EBP when academic pathologists are absent or the team is short-staffed. This would require interpretation and reporting of routine histopathology slides for the purposes of disease diagnosis and prognostication in a variety of species, though mainly companion animals. It would also require communication with clinicians. This could be undertaken remotely. 4. We would require the provider to be a board certified pathologist (American or European College of Veterinary Pathologists, or Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists). 5. We would require a significant degree of flexibility in terms of number of days worked per month (range 2-18 days per month). 6. We are also interested in any \"added value\" that can be brought to this position, for example undergraduate or postgraduate teaching/training contributions.. Easter Bush Pathology (EBP) is part of the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS), providing multiple services and fulfilling several functions, specifically undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, a diagnostic service (necropsy, clinical pathology, surgical pathology), and research, including research support to others within and external to the (R(D)SVS).",

The R(D)SVS has invested in significant technology over the last few years, applicable to both diagnostics and research. We would like to build on our pre-existing research links and develop new links since they have the potential to generate income, create research projects for residents and students, and strengthen our collaboration with the wider research community. However, our capacity to expand in the research support arena is somewhat limited due to the many other commitments that the EBP pathologists already have. Prior to tendering for this service we wish to gauge market interest and environment which will assist us in developing relevant tender documentation NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Public Contracts Scotland Web Site at https://www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=616613.
