"description": "We seek to identify novel small molecules that bind to certain proteins, which will be used as the basis to initiate drug discovery activities. Due to the challenging nature of the project, we are limited to using a single technique to identify small molecule binders. This technique, known as DNA-encoded library (DEL) screening, is not available within the academic environment and there are only a limited number of suppliers worldwide. We propose to engage DyNAbind to supply the DEL screen for this project without a competitive tendering process. DyNAbind offers a technology that is unique within this class and is particularly well suited to the protein target that we wish to study. Specifically, the DyNAbnd technology uses the dynamic recombination of fragment pairs and fragment-small molecule pairs, which combined with DyNAbind's hit validation technology skips the need for off-DEL resynthesis and compound linking. This significantly reduces the cost of a screen. The dual-strand approach, where the individual fragments are given a significant degree of freedom to position themselves appropriately, with the potential of spanning distances that are not normally observed in a normal single-pharmacophore screening library is especially useful for the protein target of interest. These techniques will allow us to identify more diverse chemical space than other techniques. Given the commercial sensitivities of the project it is essential that both background and emerging Intellectual property (IP) is secured. DyNAbind is able to guarantee confidentiality of our background IP and will provide freedom to operate regarding compounds that are discovered following completion of the work. These are essential components of the proposed agreement with DyNAbind. The other suppliers identified were based in the US and China. DyNAbind is thus the only company that can provide the appropriate technology within finite budget with agreeable terms. (SC Ref:616678)",
