                "description": "INTRODUCTION Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS) (www.vet.ed.ac.uk) The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, headed by Professor David Argyle, has an international reputation for its research, teaching and clinical services. The School is consistently highly ranked by The Times Higher and the Guardian newspaper. The School is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and participates in the Veterinary Medical Colleges Admissions Service (VMCAS). The School, along with The Roslin Institute and Scotland's Rural College, were part of a joint submission to the 2022 Research Excellence Framework. This submission to Unit of Assessment 6 (Agriculture, Veterinary and Food Science) was ranked as number 1 in the UK. UoE is a global education provider and has nearly 1000 undergraduate, postgraduate and research students from a number of different countries. We provide world-class education to improve the health of animals and human beings alike and are leaders in veterinary education, research, and clinical practice, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Veterinary Clinical Services comprises the commercial clinical activities of the R(D)SVS. We provide specialist veterinary referral services for Scotland and the North of England. We also provide first opinion services based in our Easter Bush Campus near Roslin, Midlothian. We have 2 commercial laboratories: Dairy Herd Health and Productivity Service (DHHPS) provides production animal laboratory services & a consultancy service for external clients while Easter Bush Pathology (EBP) provides comprehensive lab services for a range of species. Clients of EBP include the R(D)SVS hospitals, external organisations and other departments within The UoE. Undergraduate education is a key focus of activities in the VCS. Final year students rotate through the clinical services and are actively involved with clients, patients / procedures. Ethically approved clinical research is a key element of our activities. Much of our work contributes to a variety of research activities and projects. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT We require a comprehensive Practice Management Software (PMS) system which can provide industry standard patient, client, pharmacy and accounting features. Due to the complexity of our organisation and the multiple demands on our clinical staff, we require the system to be user friendly & intuitive at the front end but support the complex requirements of operating multidisciplinary clinical services in a university environment. It is essential that we have a system which supports workflow including patient/laboratory sample management (LIMS) with necessary analyser interfaces and automated prompts to aid completion of activities. The system must be able to track a patient journey from consultation and admission to use of in-patient services and facilities through to discharge. The system will provide prompts and clear analysis of client account status, insurance claims status and communication with referring practices. The system will have a radiology information system (RIS) with HL7 messaging, preferably through an API with the possibility of adding an Imaging Work List service. As a teaching organization, we require the system to be of educational benefit for our undergraduates. It is beneficial for the system to allow students to experience all relevant activities on a PMS but without the ability to adversely affect true case notes. We must be able to easily and comprehensively generate, view and manage reports to allow analysis of financial performance, service performance and hospital performance. Of particular importance is the ability to store, search and extract the information for research and marketing purposes in a machine-readable format for undergraduate, academic, and administrative activities.",
