    "description": "The preparation of a Core Paths Plan is a statutory duty for the Local Authority under Sections 17-20 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. Dumfries and Galloway Council initiated its core paths planning project in 2006. Following extensive consultations and recommendations from the Scottish Government the Core Paths Plan was formally adopted by the Council on 14 February 2013. Authorities may, when they consider appropriate, review their core paths plan to ensure that at any given time they continue to meet the current requirements for core paths in their area either through removals or diversions or through additional core paths under section 20 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. \"Section 20 (1) The local authority shall at such times as they consider appropriate review the plan adopted under section 18.\" The D& G core paths plan is now 10 years old, and it is recognised that circumstances will change over time and the plan should be capable of developing to reflect requirements.
