## Summary

The Committee on Climate Change is conducting a tender titled "Research on the potential for using bioenergy resources for construction and other non-energy uses." This procurement falls under the category of research and development services with an estimated value of £50,000 and a minimum value of £40,000. The tender is currently in the Award stage, with submissions due by 18th January 2018. The selected contractor will begin work on 29th January 2018 and is expected to complete it by 11th May 2018. The location of the project is London, UK, and the procurement follows an open procedure method.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for SMEs specialising in environmental research and consultancy, particularly those focused on bioenergy and sustainability practices. By participating in this project, businesses can contribute to critical analyses that will inform future bioenergy strategies and standards for the UK, thereby enhancing their portfolio and expertise in a rapidly evolving sector. Businesses interested in this tender should have capabilities in conducting detailed assessments, stakeholder engagement, and policy recommendations related to environmental objectives.

## Notice

In 2011 the CCC published the Bioenergy Review to provide an assessment of the potential role of bioenergy in meeting the UK's carbon budgets. The Bioenergy Review drew on the best available evidence to address questions relating to the sustainability of bioenergy, lifecycle emissions, resource availability and best-use across the economy. It highlighted the importance of bioenergy for meeting the UK's climate change targets and made recommendations for tightening the sustainability standards for bioenergy resources. The CCC is now planning to update its work on bioenergy, culminating in a new Bioenergy Review to be published in Autumn 2018. This review will consider the latest evidence and include new analysis to provide an updated view on the role of bioenergy in decarbonising the UK economy through to 2050. Key themes to be explored include sustainability and certification, GHG emissions accounting, developing sustainable supply, non-energy uses of bioenergy resources, and transitions to future best-uses of bioenergy resources. The CCC aims to identify recommendations for further action where appropriate and develop indicators to allow the CCC to monitor progress over time. Stakeholder engagement will form an important part of the 2018 Bioenergy Review. The CCC will be launching a Call for Evidence in December 2017. This is intended to provide all stakeholders with the opportunity to input into the CCC's work and to enable the CCC to draw on the full range of up-to-date evidence relating to bioenergy production, sustainability and use. The Call for Evidence will be followed by stakeholder workshops on specific key topics in 2018. We will also be establishing an Expert Advisory Group to provide advice and support to the CCC throughout the review. *** Please see Specification for more information *** Additional information: Interviews will take place in London on 23rd January 2018. If you are invited for interview, you will be notified of the address and time in the letter of invitation, sent out by email. Please keep this date free so that your team can attend if required
