This includes Sheltered Housing Scheme, which are fitted with Tyntec Units for use in an emergency. This consists of Tyntec unit, a pendant you can wear and pull-cords in every room. The system operates via a telephone landline. Pulling a cord or pressing a button on the unit or pendant automatically connects with a Scheme Manager or The Council's Control Centre, which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Council then can contact the best people placed to help whether this is a carer, a doctor or the emergency services. There are approximately 1800 Tyntec Emergency Units in place. The contract will be for a three year period, with a possible two one year extensions.
