## Summary

NHS England is seeking a supplier to deliver bespoke training for new Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMA) as part of a tender process titled "New Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMA) training". This opportunity falls under the health services category and is located in England, with a tender end date set for 12 November 2021. The contract period is scheduled to commence on 29 November 2021 and conclude by 31 March 2022. The procurement method is limited and involves a competitive quotation process below the financial threshold of £100,000, allocated to enhance PMA training across various regions in England.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in health training services, particularly those that specialise in training and support related to the healthcare workforce. Companies that are capable of providing remote training solutions and have expertise in mental health support within the healthcare sector would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. Engaging in this procurement could allow such businesses to expand their services, establish valuable connections within the NHS, and contribute positively to workforce wellbeing during a critical time for healthcare professionals.

## Notice

NHS England & NHS Improvement (NHSEI) wish to commission a supplier to deliver a bespoke RCS training to new PMAs in England. This will help ensure PMAs can provide effective RCS to the workforce during and after the pandemic. Training can be delivered virtually/remotely and it is to commence before end of March 2022. The course offer should consist of a10-day programme. It is widely recognized that all sectors of the healthcare workforce were already experiencing widespread stress, mental health problems and burnout. The spread of corona virus (COVID-19) across the globe and the associated morbidity and mortality has challenged nations and their health services by several means. These existing levels of work-related health problems are likely rise further due to the exceptional pressure that many nurses and midwifery staff are experiencing during the pandemic (Kinman et al 2020; NHS Confederation 2020; West et al 2020). Bespoke mental health support for both professional groups is needed now more than ever, especially as post COVID syndrome is currently a part of the work life of many NHS staff. The role of a Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) and use of A-EQUIP model (advocating for education and quality improvement) is well placed to facilitate support during this time. In order to provide further support to midwifery staff, there is a need to increase the number of PMAs across the country. Currently there are between 50 to 120 PMAs within each of the seven regions, totalling approximately 800 PMAs in England. At present, there is variation in the degree of PMA support available to maternity services, ranging from full time posts, to sessional support to no PMA support at all. In order to increase the number of PMAs in England, NHSE/I are providing PS100,000 (25,000 per region) towards further PMA training places. These funds will appoint four Higher Education Institutes in England which already provide PMA training to deliver further training in: * London * North East and North West England * Midlands and East of England * South West and South East of England Please apply here: https://health-family.force.com/s/Welcome
