The council currently processes 70,000 tonnes of waste per annum. The plant requires 110,000 tonnes of waste per annum, and this shortfall is to be met by the successful bidder for this tender opportunity. This new agreement will run from the 1 December 2020 to the end of the current contract with the operators of the Energy from Waste Plant on 11 February 2023, but will give the opportunity of 2 further 1 year extensions, if required, post 2023.
