Brief Description of Requirement UK Shared Business Services Ltd (UK SBS) on behalf of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), wishes to establish a Contract for the supply of the Loki Sample Area Cave Power-Operated Door and Roof as per the specification attached within the supporting Appendix. UK SBS is managing this procurement process in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as may be amended from time to time) (the "Regulations"). This is a Supplies and Services Contract being procured under the Open OJEU Procedure regulations. This RFP sets out details of the Contract and expectations of any successful supplier. This Contract will be awarded to a sole supplier. Introduction to Project The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), a multi-disciplinary research facility based on the world's most powerful neutron source with a vision to enable scientific breakthroughs in research related to materials, energy, health and the environment, and address some of the most important societal challenges of our time. Subject of this Technical Specification The documentation and the supporting Appendix outlines the requirements for the supply of the Loki Sample Area Cave Power-Operated Door and Roof. The translating door will have a mass of approximately 10,500 kg. The roof will have a mass of approximately 11,000 kg. The door and roof must provide radiation shielding - the material configuration of these will be provided by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). The door/roof will be delivered to the ESS neutron facility in Lund, Sweden. Please ensure you review all attached information to ensure a full understanding of this requirement.
