## Summary

The Committee On Climate Change is seeking proposals for a tender titled "Examine the implications of accelerated electrification and net-zero emissions for the UK electricity sector". This procurement process falls under the research and development services category and is set in London, United Kingdom. Currently in the Tender stage, the submission deadline is 7th December 2018, with a contract period commencing on 7th January 2019 and concluding on 5th April 2019. This open procurement process has a total estimated value of £60,000, with a minimum bid requirement of £50,000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses focused on research and consultancy in the energy and environmental sectors. Companies with expertise in climate change analysis, technological modelling, and policy advisory services would be particularly well-suited to compete. With the urgent demand for solutions to meet net-zero emissions, engaging in this project could not only lead to financial rewards but also position businesses as key contributors to the UK’s climate goals.

## Notice

The CCC has recently been requested to advise on when the UK should reach 'net zero' emissions in the context of the Paris Agreement and to review the UK's existing 80% greenhouse gas emissions reduction target for 2050. The work in this proposal is expected to be supporting evidence for the CCC's advice, due to be published in Spring 2019. The CCC's advice is based on detailed modelling of a range of technologies and behaviours that could be deployed across the economy. Using that modelling, the CCC has developed scenarios for deployment of technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 2020, 2030, and to 2050. These are intended to demonstrate possible ways in which carbon budgets and the 2050 target could be met, estimate the economic cost of doing so, and identify barriers to delivery and consider how these could be overcome. *** See specification for more detail ***
