## Summary

Birmingham Children's Trust, acting on behalf of Birmingham City Council, is planning a procurement process titled "Targeted Short Breaks Service," within the Health and Social Work Services category. This initiative aims to provide diverse Short Breaks options for disabled children and young people in the West Midlands, UK. The procurement is in the planning stage with a budget of GBP 7,150,000, covering the contract period from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2031. The process will follow an open procedure and the future opportunity notice was published on 1st October 2025.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the Health and Social Care sector, particularly those specialising in community-based services for children with disabilities. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) may find this project well-suited to their capabilities, given the eligibility criteria involving Education, Health and Care Plans and other support indicators. Participation in this procurement can expand a business’s portfolio in public sector contracts and enhance its presence in providing essential community services.

## Notice

On behalf of Birmingham City Council, Birmingham Childrens Trust commissions an extensive Short Breaks offer that provides a range of options for disabled children and young people over a broad range of support needs. This ensures children and young people access the right type of Short Break for them, and enables their parents and carers to have a break from caring. The aim is to deliver positive outcomes, improve lives and prevent and reduce crisis by offering local community-based activities wherever possible. The Trust will soon be commissioning Targeted Short Break Services for children and young people in the City who do not require a social work assessment, but who meet other eligibility criteria-such as having an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA), or having a formal diagnosis.
