## Summary

The Colchester Borough Council is seeking submissions for the tender titled "GB-Colchester: Architectural Design for Stanway Community Centre". This procurement is part of the works category, specifically focusing on architectural design services, and is located in Colchester within the East of England. The tender process is currently active and follows an open procedure. Key dates include the deadline for tender submissions on 16th October 2019, with the contract period commencing on 18th November 2019, lasting until 26th February 2021. The estimated value of the contract is between £500,000 and £1,000,000.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community social enterprises (VCSEs) looking to expand their portfolio in architectural design. Businesses that specialise in innovative design solutions, particularly those with experience in community facility projects, will be well-suited to compete. The focus on flexibility in design and the potential inclusion of sporting and wellbeing provisions suggests a demand for creative and functional designs, making it an ideal project for firms with expertise in multi-use facility developments.

## Notice

Colchester Amphora Trading Ltd (CATL) is a subsidiary of Colchester Commercial Holding Ltd which is wholly owned by Colchester Borough Council (the Authority). CATL was set up to deliver its major works programme, manage its events services and manage its property. The Authority intends to develop a community facility offering flexible hall space suitable for hire by community groups including kitchen and toilet facilities. While being a flexible space intended for multiple uses, we would like to see sporting and wellbeing provision included in the design as costs will allow. These can be included inside or outside the building and ideally incorporate a multi-use surface for different activities. There is a likelihood that an anchor tenant would operate from the site and therefore some office provision, which could also be used as further meeting or hireable space in future will also need to be included in the designs. Parking will also need to be provided on the site. The design of the building should reflect the site's location adjacent to the forthcoming country park. Innovative design solutions including modular builds are encouraged for this development. The Authority intends to initially commission the design element, before awarding (subject to approval the construction). Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
