## Summary

The Ministry of Defence has awarded a contract for the provision of IT services related to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). The tender, titled "PACS - DMS Picture Archiving and Communication System," falls under the industry category of IT services, including consulting, software development, internet, and support. The procurement method used was selective, involving call-off from a framework agreement. The contract period spans from November 1, 2023, to December 31, 2028, with a contract value of £1,639,695.60. The tender deadline was on October 20, 2023, and the contracting authority is the Ministry of Defence based in London, England.

This awarded contract presents an opportunity for businesses in the IT services sector, particularly those with expertise in consulting, software development, and support services. Companies well-suited to compete should have experience in large-scale IT projects and a strong track record in delivering solutions for government entities. Given the nature of the contract and the specific industry category, businesses familiar with healthcare IT systems and interoperability requirements would also find this opportunity aligned with their capabilities.

## Notice

"Current Status The Centre for Defence Radiology migrated from RadCentre to IMPAX RIS and form PACS IMPAX 6.4 to Enterprise Imaging in 2017. All radiological images produced by Defence Radiology since 1999 and all Operational imaging acquired by UK Armed Forces since Op TELIC have been recorded digitally and the supporting data is stored on the current PACS (in excess of 22 million Defence medical images) and RIS servers. When Service personnel are treated at NHS or Private hospitals these establishments have a responsibility for the data produced. However, the images acquired at request of the MoD in private hospitals belong to the MoD as it is a contracted task. As a consequence the MoD has a responsibility and will need a copy of images and reports. Hospital archiving retention timelines differ from those of the MoD. As technology and networks have developed the PACS/RIS capabilities have been upgraded and expanded to allow dispersed military healthcare facilities (UK and overseas) to connect to the core CDR PACS and RIS servers."
