## Summary

The Christchurch and East Dorset Council is initiating a tender for the project titled "Wick Lane Car Park Wall Repairs," set to address extensive damage to a historic retaining wall in one of the two main car parks serving central Christchurch. This project falls under the industry category of miscellaneous building structures and has an estimated value of £18,000. The procurement method is an open procedure, and the tender is currently in the planning stage with a submission deadline of 22 January 2018. The contract period is scheduled to run from 12 February 2018 to 12 March 2018, and all works will take place in the South West region of England within a conservation area.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses involved in masonry, bricklaying, and traditional construction methods, particularly those with experience in restoration projects. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are especially encouraged to participate, given the nature of the work and the collaborative approach required with the Christchurch and East Dorset Council. Companies capable of delivering high-quality, historically sensitive repairs while coordinating effectively with local heritage officers will find this project aligns well with their service offerings.

## Notice

One of the two main car parks serving central Christchurch, this car park is on two levels separated by a retaining wall which is approximately 1.2m high. The wall is of uncertain age but is at least 100 years old. Recent extensive plant growth has caused extensive damage to the wall. Historically sensitive repairs and reconstruction are required to ensure future stability of the wall. The wall is located within the Christchurch conservation area, close to a scheduled ancient monument and near to the Christchurch heritage triangle. All works are being co-ordinated with the Christchurch and East Dorset listed building officer. The works will involve the clearing away and herbicidal treatment of ivy and bay over a long period. The wall will require dismantling and reconstruction using photographic or stone number techniques so that its reconstruction is similar if not identical to that prior to removal. Additionally those parts of the wall not reconstructed will require repointing. All these works are to be carried out using traditional lime mortars to an approved mix. Tenderers must upload and submit Supplier Response Documents electronically via www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk Note that you must upload your documents and then submit your documents. If you upload your documents but fail to "Submit" them, the Authority will not receive them and they will not be considered during the evaluation stage.
